Reiki works with universal energy or life force.
Heaven’s force is yang, generated from above and moving downwards towards the earth, whereas earth’s force is expanding upwards and is yin. All physical and energetic forms and phenomena comprise these two energies in relative proportions, and together these forces are known traditionally as ki, chi, or prana.
Heaven’s force enters human beings through the hair spiral of the head, moving downwards, and earth’s force enters the body through the genital region and moves upwards. These forces move through the internal body, creating an energy channel that is charged at seven energy centres where heaven and earth’s forces collide, called chakras.
These energy centres support and regulate the physiological and psychological processes in each corresponding region, and each centre, in turn, radiates out the incoming yin and yang energy into a system of channels or meridians, which charge the body’s organs, tissues, and functions. In essence, our physical body is charged and activated by an energetic body that is nourished by heaven and earth’s forces, and these charges create life.
The Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki system works, through touch and energy channelling, with the universal life force or ki running through the body’s energy channel and chakras, bringing about deep physical and spiritual healing in the body and psyche.
