Onions are used frequently in macrobiotic cooking. Cooked onions are very sweet and nourishing, and vegetables cooked whole give complete energy.
Sesame oil is the preferred cooking oil in macrobiotics. Dark sesame oil, used in this dish, is pressed from roasted sesame seeds and has a deep, rich flavour.
